    Norton's S&W 500 is a fun plinker.

Just don't try shooting one with a broken thumb, like I did. Wasn't my soundest decision if I'm honest.

I'm partial to my Redhawk. When I go to a pin shoot, most guns knock them off the table but I've had pins make it 6 feet off the table!:D

    BTW, that 586 is gorgeous!

That steel actually did very well.

Probably shortened it's life-span some, but no holes were punched thru it.

Mdeng was lighting it up with a Thompson (semi), the shower of brass was quite beautiful in a odd way.

Just an update on my new 586. I've been to the range a couple of times now, and, I'm happy to say, it's a tack driver. It's also a ***** cat to shoot. Even with the full house magnum rounds. Here's my 11 year old grandson shooting it. He loves it. I've also changed the grips to make it a little more me. View attachment 115871

Nice grips on that Smith! Blued steel goodness!

    A bubba s&w 547, shoots 9mm without moon clips
Otherwise go with the 586 and do a lightened trigger job so you get a python for about 600 less

    Ever see a Cougar?

Hybrid, purpose built, .357. Python barrel and a Ruger frame and cylinder. I've never held a gun that was more well balanced or pretty. Worth Googling. It's a keeper. (no I don't know how to load pics...yes, I'm a tech dinosaur...if you're really interested, I can send pics)

Other than that, I vote 629 four inch or Model 19 Combat short barrel.

Most accurate revolver I've ever owned, bar none, is a S&W Model 29 with a 6" barrel. A close second is/was the 586 in the same barrel-length. Python was always a beautiful gun to look at but, the grips were slightly on the large-side for my hands.
