I've always wanted a Harrington & Richardson self loading pistol in the worst way. I just can't find one in the condition I want.

Not C&R but I miss this, great gun that I made the mistake of selling

At least it was to my oldman, I might see it again someday with wear and tear.

Been in the family since 1919 (or thereabouts), plan on keeping it in the family for as long as possible.

Little bastard still shoots quite well too.
I don't think I would shoot it, with that kind of history. Too valuable! I think I'd cover it in cosmoline, and save it for the grandkids. Or great grandkids... Very cool! My father has a S/A 1903 that he got from his grandfather. I think it was made in 1905. I was told not to shoot it because it was made prior to nickling process? Was told it wasn't safe to shoot. Anyway, it's probably not worth much. It was sporterized in the 40's, and, it looks like it had been repaired at least once. Very low serial number though.

When I got it, had been sitting for at least 20 years. My father fired it, the slide bit him bad, and that was the last time it was fired before me getting it.

Every spring had to be replaced to get it functioning. The bluing was 75+% gone and the gun was starting to rust.

I have his power tools from the late '30's (rewired/updated) and still use them, so I figured getting the gun working again only seemed right.

These "pocket" Colts (Model M, Model N) are very robust guns, no worries.
Plenty of parts available too, and they aren't numbered to the gun so it's not like some other C$R stuff that you need to be careful with.
New springs and good to go.
The only thing to watch out for is cracking the grips, originals can be hard to find and expensive.

Numrich carries a fair amount of parts for them too.

    Some parts are unavailable though.

I just got my 03 FFL and I have always had this fascination with the small .25 and .22 pocket pistols - there are so many c&r eligible that I am afraid I will buy too many - does anyone else have this addiction or is it just me..

As a licensed healthcare provider, I certify that this is NOT an unhealthy behavior....

    just set yourself a limit.

For me it has to either be in some kind of reasonably effective caliber or have a serious cool factor above the norm

Course I did break my own rule on the cz-70...

    Anyways. REASONS

The only mouse gun that I have is a little Beretta .25 that's probably a C&R by now. I've had it for many years. It's a very neat little gun, but not what I'd want to depend upon for protection. I seem to think that it's one of the first guns that "007" carried in the Fleming book series.

    ========

    Addition from Wiki:

"When Ian Fleming wrote the first of the James Bond novels, Casino Royale, he had no idea in which direction the stories would go, least of all how many he would eventually write. When he introduced Bond as using a .25 ACP caliber Beretta in a flat chamois leather holster, he is commonly believed to have given little thought to it. Fleming had been issued a .25 ACP Baby Browning during the Second World War when he was in Naval Intelligence and felt it was an appropriate side arm for an intelligence officer on an undercover mission."
