I am starting to get warning messages

I have a MAC computer and just started getting warning messages that MDshooters is infected. I have received this about three times now. Any ideas why?

I am getting the messages on Firefox. I am not too computer literate so I don't know what an expired SSL certificate is.

Not seeing the problem messages on either my Mac (running Mountain Lion) with Safari nor my Windows 7 PC running IE.

I suspect that it's not MDshooters site related. Sounds like some sort of adware got downloaded to your system. You may need to clear your browser's cache and cookies to clear up the problem.

In a nutshell.

SSL certs are used when you access an encrypted webpage using https:// rather than http://
You see that nice lock and green bar that means your connection is encrypted and a valid SSL cert is being used. This is usually used for ecommerce websites and such.

I do get a certificate error when using https://www.mdshooters.com but I always connect just using http://www.mdshooters.com.

I've heard of google chrome erroneously claiming a website is unsafe due to it being a conservative site. It happened to Breitbart.com.

OP, do you get this warning only when trying to go to mdshooters.com?

You are correct, I only get it when I type in md shooters into the url window and httpsmdshooters.com is selected. If I type in httpmdshooter.com, I don't have the problem.

When I type in https://www.mdshooters.com I simply get directed to the http:// version of the url and this the web site.

If I type https://mdshooters.com then I get a Safari message warning me that it cannot verify the identify of the destination and gives me an option to continue or cancel. Selecting continue take me to the web site.
