as a retired aa cty police i never promised to protect all the residents, that would be absurd.given the counties size about 420 sq miles and about 650 police and the daily population
I know I shouldn't wish this on Baltimore City, but there's a part of me that would like to see the murder rate go up by a factor of 10 after 281 goes into affect.
Just to show what a complete waste of time Gun Control (AKA: People Control) really is.
P.S. Photo, My Texas tried to have me for lunch yesterday. My thumb had bloody horseshoe marks top and bottom. He's such a Bastard.

"Do you really think having a pop tart that's been nibbled into the shape of a gun will be confused for a real gun?", I asked.
"Fool," he replied, "Don't you read the news?"
I woke up in a cold sweat.
haha ....
Now for the day when we can reclaim our 2a right to bear arms in md like we can in most other states. Stun guns are a good step of progress towards that end.

... and didn't even have to leave the state to do it!!
Wife and I decided to make the rounds today, and pick up some things we needed at BassPro and PetSmart (and a couple other mini-stops).
I did so with an ECD (Electronic Control Device--aka 'Stun Gun') on my hip.
Honestly, it was a good feeling, knowing that we have that little bit in our favor, despite Curran & Co.
Oh, yeah... and carried a sidearm the rest of the day doing yardwork at home.
I'll take what I can get.
I think Tasers have been legal here n Carroll all along.
I've always thought Tasers were more suited to police use than civilian self defense. Tasers strike me as slightly Rube Goldberg-ish. The device fires two tiny darts connected by wires back to the device. My understanding is that both darts must embed in skin for the Taser to have any effect. It's not unusual for at least one of the two darts to embed, rendering the device merely annoying to the bad guy.
Assuming you get solid hits with your one and only shot, you are now tied to your assailant by those wires. As long as you can keep the juice flowing, yes, he will twitch and scream in a gratifying manner, but you can't turn off the electricity. As soon as you do, or the power runs out, the bad guy can rip out the wires and resume his attack.
Police use them to restrain people and take them into custody. Police hopefully have back up on the scene, and in any case have more lethal options readily available.
It's not my role to take anyone into custody. I just want to get out of Dodge. Rather than a Rube Goldberg single shot Taser, I carry a pathetic little two-shot Kimber Pepper Blaster. My notion, if attacked, is to give them both barrels and get the hell out of there. I don't want to be attached to the guy by wires.
I've always thought Tasers were most suitable for the mission of police work, while pepper sprays were better options for non-sworn civilians.
