I was having a discussion with a friend about the HQL and a question came up about how often the MSP verifies that HQLs are still valid and the holders haven't been convicted of any crimes.

Although the lawmakers who passed the law creating the HQL might not have known this when they made fingerprints a requirement, the inclusion of fingerprints linked to the license holder makes notification of new arrests or convictions almost instant. Any new disqualifiers should flag the HQL holder in the system.
We had an active duty trooper here posting on MDS, and told me I was making up some TV crime drama CSI BS when i mentioned this before. I told him to walk down the hall a bit, and which of his subordinate trooper's desks to ask at for confirmation of my assertion. He never posted again.
