How many magazines?

Got an HK USP .40 S&W and I currently have 3 16rd magazines right now. Is it wise to invest for more magazines? What's the average number of mags do you guys keep for your pistol? Thanks... Ron

I only have 2. My hope is, that if I am in a situation that warrants me using more than 2 10 rd magazines, the police will be arriving shortly.....Three 16rd mags seem sufficient to me.

Heres my take on it:

Each Pistol gets a MINIMUM of 5 Mags per Pistol, 7 is my "Comfort" level.

Each Rifle gets a MINIMUM of 8 Mags per Rifle, 12 is my "Comfort" level.

I have a Beta Mag in my bedside AR. If a group of thugs visit me its on like donkey kong.

That's because, where you are a fantastic gunsmith, you are a lousy shot.

Of course I kid.....each person has their individual comfort level.

Truth be told, I have two because the gun came with two and I think $25 apiece for SCCY mags is ridiculous.

Two is minium to have on your person.
Five to seven is reasonable to own.

I have 14 or 15 mags for the S&W M&P. Probably a dozen for the BHP. 12 also for the .45 XD. I "lost" 12 SIG P226 mags somewhere here. As for AR mags, I have at least four, maybe five boxes of 20 round mags. (each box is 25 mags.) I also have probably 100-125 FAL mags, metric. Only about 25 Inch FAL mags, but the Inch guns aren't built yet. For my favorite gun, the SIG P2022, I only have five mags. Yes, I need to buy more.

I have about fifteen for my 1911A1 (not sure if the ten I just bought will work though yet), about eight for my CZ52s and just the two for my CZ82, but I probably have 20 moon clips I can load for my M1917.

I'm not TOO worried about pistol mag counts...if I run dry I'm going for other guns. Handgun isn't the primary in the house anyway.

I have 4-5 mags per pistol - I know I will never need that much, but I have them as insurance against another hip-cap mag ban. I lived through the last one and learned my lesson.
