December of 2013 4,500
December of 2014 15,150
December of 2015 16,900
It looks like the pace is picking up. Total of the above is 36,550 so the total number of HQL's issued is above that.
And from November 1st to December 8th the pace was running better than 50 per day which should put the total for 2015 at about 18,000. The HQL's per day in 2014 was about 43 so the end of year number was around 15,800 so 40,000 total since inception is probably pretty close.
No, they are NOT on our side.
They are getting theirs, before they get the laws changed so those other people cannot get them.
DO NOT ASSUME THAT A CASUAL GUN OWNER IS ON OUR SIDE.
That's an interesting opinion. I fail to understand why more potential gun owners is a bad thing. Most of the anti position comes from ignorance and fear.
Having said that, there are dozens of posts on MDS essentially saying they "stocked up before 10/1/2013" and thus don't need an HQL. Isn't that essentially the same thing or potentially worse? At least these new gun owners are spending money at the FFLs on handguns.
Retired/separated LEO's do not need HQL, correct?
An HQL is not requirement for a W&C Permit. A huge percentage of Permit holders don't have one, and have no intrest in getting one. We tend to extrapolate from ourselves, but in PRM there is little overlap between gun enthusiasts and Permit holders.
The large chunk of Permit holders don't own a pistol, and have no need to, they are issued by their employer at start of each shift.
Pinecone's point is that a large chunk of those gun browsing soccer moms and metrosexuals over in PR of MoCo strongly believe that guns are nasty & evil, have no place being owned by the general public, and need to be restricted to the extra special, privledeged people. They just believe THEY are the extra special privledeged people.
That's the flaw in your position. Just because someone gets an HQL does NOT in any way guarantee that they will go on to apply for and win a W&C Permit and buy a handgun afterward. There is nothing to prevent them from giving up after a permit denial and just go for a long gun.
Potential =/= actual.
