I am also debating it right now. I vowed I wouldn't but there are things I want to buy and I don't see myself moving to freedom any time soon.

I was holding off hoping a lawsuit would come about to get rid of this nonsense. I finally caved in after realizing it would take years for such a lawsuit to happen.

I have toys to buy and just sucked it up and got it! HK VP9 on the way. :party29:

Interesting. The Livescan fingerprinting service up here, stated that your finger prints are only good for 30 days after they are taken. Is this a catch 22?

MSP actually states that the Livescan prints expire after 72 hours. I've seen people successfully submit a good amount after that, but that is technically MSP's position.

The MSP are required to issue or deny within 30 days. The problem is there is no statutory penalty for not doing that. Usually the prints are processed before the 30 days are up. Sometimes they are slow to print and mail.

Bump to the top for a six month update.

Since half the year has passed we need to update this thread to track the progress of the HQL in Maryland.

Total Number Of HQL's In Maryland
See post #43 to see the history of previous years and numbers as of march of this year.

So what we need is the approximate number of a recently issued HQL, just the first few digits XX the last couple for privacy, The ideal one would be issued on or about 6/30/2016. The HQL's are numbered sequentially starting over each January 1st so the number of one issued at the half way point will let us track the issue rate. If you will post the date issued and approximate number I will do the math and post a complete update of post #43.

From March 21 to May 31 would be 71 days.
    3/21 = 8,100
    5/31 = 13,500
    ==============
    71 days 5,400 HQL's = 76 per day

    Cumulative total since inception = 51,220 HQL's

I still would like the approximate number from someones HQL that was dated as close to the end of June as possible, they are probably in the mail and will arrive soon. The card has your name then the HQL number then the expiration date.

    NAME
    HQL - 2016 - XXXXXX
    06/30/2026

Looking for 6/30 but a couple of days either way is close enough.

6/30 Update of Total Number Of HQL's In Maryland

The HQL's are numbered sequentially starting over each year so to determine the number issued in a year we just need the approximate number of a HQL issued in late December of each year. We can also track trends by looking at the HQL number and date issued to see if the average number per day changes.

2013 The HQL was only in effect for 3 months = 4,500 issued = 50 per day

2014 the number posted was issued in Dec. no date given = 15,150 = 41 per day

2015 the number posted was for end of Dec. after 12/29 = 18,070 = 49.5 per day

    Total for first three years (1st year only 3 months) = 37,720 = 46 per day since Oct.1, 2013

    2016 tracking (issued 3/21 8,1XX) 8,100 HQL's / 81 Days since start of year = 100 per day

    2016 tracking (issued 6/30 15,2XX) 15,200 HQL's / 182 Days since start of year = 83.5 per day

Running total of all HQL's issued since October 1, 2013
    , start of program, to latest date posted (6/30/2016) = 52,920 = 53 per day since Oct. 1, 2013

While handgun sales have been stifled by HQL, I bet that long gun sales are booming in Maryland, particularly now that all of them are C&C, and many shops have done their legal homework and are selling some pretty tacticool MD legal rifles.
