Flashlights, knives and guns ... "too many" does not apply.
At least one more...
Torches and pitchforks neither needs batteries.
Actually I have several small ones handy but their primary function is to get me to the matches so I can start lighting the kerosene lamps, I much prefer them for general lighting.

And Aladdin mantle lamps for reading or other detail work

When is the last time we checked the batteries in all those flashlights? Do we have fresh spares?
I had an annual routine for smoke detectors before the ten-year sealed versions, but no flashlight regimen. That should be a thing.
I still have three oil lamps but used to have one in every room in the days before house generators. Now, between the generators and LED flashlights with long run rechargeable batteries, the oil lights are mostly for display.
I remember when we had a big Aladdin hanging from a spring loaded reel in the Great Room. That would light almost like a 100 Watt bulb during the storms that took down the power lines. Ahh, those were the days.
