It is always a good idea to let your license lapse periodically and then apply for a new one. During the time it is lapsed, the laws do not apply to you and you can do what you want with your book. When you get a new license, you start a new book.

This is not a loophole, many of us have copies of the letter sent by the BATF saying specifically that the law only applies to licensees.

    Regards,

What if you never made a c&r purchase? I dont even have a bound book as all of my c&r eligible rifles where acquired without it.

If you aqcquired them during the period when you had the license, yes, you HAVE to log them in.

If you bought, say, a Mosin in 2008, but got your license in 2012, you DO NOT log it in.

If you got your license in 2012, and bought a Mosin from a dealer without "using" your license, you DO have to log it in.

If you sell the Mosin you bought in 2008, you HAVE to log it is ("acquired from personal collection"), then immediately log it back out.

If your license expires, and you don't renew it, you can shred your Bound Book, burn the shreddings, then flush the ashes down the toilet.

    It's for the children.

Bureaucrats have to feed their kids too, ya know.

Yup. There is a train of thought on some forums that you do not have to log purchases if you do not use the license. You are licensed, period. You log your acquisitions and enjoy the ride.
