They're NFA items, and you have to go through the process to get a tax stamp.

it has to be transferred to a class 3 dealer ( tax stamp may be involved if its on form 4 ).

once paperwork is approved, its 'transferred' to you.. there is usually a fee from the dealer to do this.

your best bet is to visit one of our industry partners who stock suppressors. you pay state tax but no transfer fees other than your tax stamp.

There are fake suppressors available on-line.

If it's cheap = most likely fake, and can be delivered to your door.

Otherwise, the previous posts cover the process.

    A few steps:

    1) Arrange for a MD-based dealer, who is licensed by ATF to handle NFA transfers, to be your local dealer who will transfer the item to you. This type of FFL license is called an 07/SOT.

    2) Pay the seller and give them the contact info for the MD 07/SOT FFL.

    3) The MD 07/SOT FLL should walk you through what you need to do on your end. Pretty much what the sticky in the NFA forum lays out. The seller has to request permission from ATF to send the suppressor to the MD 07/SOT FFL. This takes about three weeks. The the MD 07/SOT FFL will go through the process to transfer your item to you.

It is really a pretty painless process, and almost identical to buying a regular firearm from out of state, except for the wait.
