I got the 44 mag because it puts more energy down range. The 357 with a 158gr Speer JHP produces at 1,830 fps from a 20” barrel produces 1,147 ft lbs of energy. At 100 yds the velocity is 1,410 fps with 697 ft lbs of energy, From my 44 Magnum with a 17.5” barrel I can fire a 300 gr JHP at roughly 1,528 fps yielding 1,556 ft lbs at the muzzle. At 100 yds the 300 gr JHP is traveling at 1,301 fps with 1,128 ft lbs of energy. So at the muzzle the 44 magnum produces 409 more ft lbs
and at 100 yds roughly 431 more ft lbs.
The 44 magnum is more expensive to shoot if you buy it off the shelf. Since I roll my own not that much of a difference. So the real deciding factor is more energy down range.

I've got the Golden boy .44 mag rifle. It's an amazingly accurate rifle. Broke the tang on the tube mag a few times due to the recoil and the firing pin twice. But this was after thousands of rounds through it.
Welp, Marlin is screwed.
You can load from either end
I would imagine Henry is going to end up producing a side gate loading .357 in wood configuration. I’m fighting the urge to buy one of these myself, in the meantime.
If Henry comes out with that .357 configuration, I'll be throwing money at them to get one!
ive suggested this model to them through their suggestion email tool.
you can do the same as well on their website.

I like it!! Just need to get that trigger down to 2.5 to 3 lb.
Well did some hand loading over the last couple of days ran some ladders on some 243 gr cast flat nose ( plinking AMMO). Then sone 240 gr and 300 gr XTP’s. Put a Picatinny scope Mount and place a Vortex Venom Red dot. The cast for plonking ran 9.0 to 9.5 gr. Of 700 X not a max velocity round I’m guessing around 1,450 FPS out of the 17.5” barrel. The XTP’s are both using Winchester 296. 240’s 23.5 gr to 24 gr. 300’s 20.5 gr to 21 gr. Looking like I should get 1740 or so from the 240’s and Round 1,525 or so from the 300’s
