help ID shotgun

Picked up a old single shot 12ga. Has no markings except serial number. Serial number is on butt stock, frame under barrel, and behind forearm. Cant find any other markings. Ive not removed the forearm to see if anything is under it. To open it, it has the release inside the trigger guard. Ill try to get pics soon.

you are describing a spesco shotgun

Doesn't sound like a Spesco. They were all marked right on the top of the bbl. I'm sure the gun is marked, the OP simply missed it for one reason or another. The release was in front of the trigger gaurd on a Spesco (made in Brazil and an OK utility gun), not inside of it. Without some good pics, who knows what it is.
