This is actually a big deal in America, and something people pay very little attention to...

According to a 2014 article by Libertarian News: About 8.6% of the adult population has a felony conviction, or about 20 million people. That works out to about 1 in 12 adult Americans.

    That is a staggering number.

    Not really.

Considering 129 million Americans admit to having used pot, the number of felons should be 100 million higher. According to federal law, 52% of the population should be banned from owning guns.

And of course, the U.S. gov't owns the patent for the medical use of marijuana. Link to Patent #6,630,507

I'll agree with you on that point... but I think the article was talking about convicted felons. If we are talking about un-indited/un-convicted felons, the number is probably much closer to 100% (Read, Three Felonies a Day, for a better understanding of that issue).

Don't forget to include all the retroactive felons created by O'Mao and the MD Gen. Ass. with SB281.

Not being a lawyer I might be misreading this but I submit

1435. Post-Conviction Restoration Of Civil Rights which if you have Civil Rights restored they are all restored unless specific limitations are provided in a particular case of restoration.

The problem is not usually for the gun owner, but for the Felon, especially if they are on probation of have back-up-time.

Parole and Probation often takes a much wider view of what constitutes "access to a firearm or ammunition."

I guess I'm going to have to offer to hold/store guns for my friend. I don't think I can hold handguns without a transfer from them to me, but I could be wrong. Of course at that point, the handguns become mine not theirs, so more confusion and concern.
