How many empty bangers are going to do you any good in a SHTF scenario?

I started in Dec of last year... did both.

If I had no choice, then I more than likely would have got more ammo. To be honest, some of my gun choices I don't need... but thought I might want them in the future (or had always wanted one.. ie my 357).

Thanks for the input. I do have the basic firearms (AR, shotguns, rifle, pistols) and have been getting ammo here and there but not in large quantities. More fun to buy a new gun than more ammo but understand that it is needed. Maybe I can convince the wife she needs...

You forgot to add mags to the list. I am willing to bet if Hillary wins any thing in the 10+ variety will be facing a ban. I would say having 5 mags for each gun you own should be the minimum safe number.

Ammo, if you already have a decent arsonel, get some more ammo.

Arsenal?? Nobody has an arsenal, they just have "several guns".:D

I go with ammo and standard capacity mags. The more standard the better.

Just a gun or two. No big deal. Its not an addiction, just have a few hidden around the house you know? Maybe some in the drywall, few under the floors, some outside. Just a couple

But really i'd say having a 5.56, 9mm and/or 12 gauge are your best preparedness shtf weapons. Ammo will be everywhere for those. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

^^^ This. Mags are the back-door, incremental gun control.

In my opinion it really depends on your current situation. If you are looking to get a difficult to obtain firearm that will be even more difficult or impossible to obtain during frenzy, it might be wise to get that item now. Otherwise I concur with most of the respondents here, and buy more ammo. If you also plan on building a AR patterned firearm later down the road, it might be worth while to pickup a stripped lower for about $130 from a Industry Partner on this site.

Everything gets more expensive my good man.

That being said guns do you no good without boolits. Thus buy boolits.

Very true! I think of ammo as one of the few consumables that you can buy now to hedge against those future increases. To me there is no such thing as ammo hoarding. You are simply exchanging paper currency for lead and brass. What I would give to go back in time and buy a pallet full of Radway Green 7.62.
