  • I was at the gun store the other day and they told me when I buy a new hand gun here in MD I would need a gun lock in order to take it out of the store. I have a gun safe at home so definately not interested in paying $30 for it.
Does anyone have any sugguestions or have one for sale?

A lot of police stations have cable gun locks for free, made available through Project Safe Child. They're pretty decent, and have a hard rubber coating over the cable to prevent marring.

I believe if you are buying a pistol you will need a " Maryland approved" lock . Most of them look like a bullet. You load it in the chamber an stick a long key down he barrel to lock it in.
You can still use a cable lock for long guns.

I just bought a Glock, and they come with a lock, Apparently the Peoples Republic of Maryland requires that the purchaser buy a bore lock...more $$ for the Owe'Malley for President Fund.

So, I had to have a bore lock...my LGS (Gun Connection) did not charge for the extra lock...other LGS do.

AFAIK, there is no requirement that one actually has to use the lock...so now I have two locks that I don't use..
