WEAPONS VIOLATIONS GLEN BURNIE
On April 2, 2013, just after 12:00 p.m.., a 15-year-old, 10th grade male student at Glen Burnie High School located in the 7500 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie was observed by a school employee returning to campus. The student was confronted and escorted to the office, where school officials questioned his reasons for leaving campus and then returning.
The student’s responses raised questions to school administrators. They then searched his book bag and found a loaded .22 caliber handgun containing seven rounds inside of the book bag. At that juncture, the School Resource Officer was immediately contacted and took possession of the gun and book bag. The student was taken into custody without incidentand transported to Northern District, where he was charged as a juvenile with weapons violations. The juvenile will be placed at the Cheltenham Youth Facility in Prince George’s County. The initial investigation indicates that no other student was involved and the student with the gun did not display the weapon or threaten anyone with the weapon. The student’s reasons for having the weapon and where he obtained that weapon are part of the active, ongoing investigation.
