Hearing that Judiciary chair (Clippinger) called the committee into the old senate chamber for "five minutes".

Not sure what everyone else is doing.

I wasn't watching but someone said that there was a tiff on the floor?

Yeah, the sound cut off when that happened. Wish I could have heard that "discussion".

I think they pass it at 11:59

Even if they did, wouldn’t they have to reconcile it with the senate and then at least the senate pass the amended bill? I know you can pull shenanigans fast, but still seems like the kind of thing that takes at least a couple hours and a lot of will.

If this doesn't show the shenanigans and lack of cohesiveness at play, I don't know what does - Vice Chair of Ways & Means ( Del Alonzo Washington) moves to "Special Order" a bill. His chair (Del Anne Kaiser) rises to say she wanted to "Suspend the Rules for 2 Readings on the Same Day" (a way to avoid the rule that a bill must receive 3 hearings on separate "Legislative Days" [different from Calendar Days]). Under normal circumstances, the Vice Chair should have receded from his Motion out of respect for the Chair's motion...he chose to press his motion, which was soundly defeated.

We all saw the internal Dem schism come out into the open with the mud wrestling match over Busch amd Miller's replacements. The only thing that finally brought them together was that if they all didn't agree, Republican votes would have decided. Amazingly petty.

They would have to do that, I'm not sure it would take "hours" if the right people in the senate REALLY wanted to get it done tonight.

Since the House amended, the Senate would need to vote to concur on the House Amendments, as well as then voting the bill a final time.

I heard he's been holding that bill (something the senate leadership wanted) hostage for a while trying to get a vote in the senate on something of his and it seems like his chair had finally lost patience with it.

Okay, true. I’d still think unless it was truly pre-ordained just setting it all up and quickly whipping it would still take an hour or two. Unless all of the stars aligned.

If it was negotiated in advance and what not I’d think they would have gotten it done a couple or a few days ago.

Yeah I mean I think you're generally right. The biggest encouragement I get right now is just that they haven't gotten around to it yet like you said, and that, to me, means it's low-priority.

They're tired of seeing eachother at this stage.
