Those people were definitely scamming you.

If you have a clean record, you can easily get Virginia, Florida, Utah, and Arizona permits. Utah in particular is valid in every state bordering on Maryland, and about 30 others. Florida and Arizona are almost as good, but Pennsylvania recently stopped recognizing them. Virginia is also widely accepted.

You can easily get them yourself. Many of us have several: I have Utah and Florida. Several of the Industry Partners here teach the special Utah training course, and can help you get your permits at a fair price: a LOT less than $800.

You want the Utah Concealed Firearms Permit class:

None of these permits is valid in Maryland.

Maryland is impossible for most people, but if you own a business you might have a shot. There's a lot of information here at MdShooters, including a long thread about How to Apply for a Maryland Carry Permit.

Pennsylvania will issue you a permit with no trouble, but only if you have a Maryland permit first.

    This website,

    http://www.handgunlaw.us/

Will give you good information on each state's permits, where they are recognized, and how to get them.

Invite them back and tell them you have the money and when they get there introduce them to a member of your local or MSP police department. They are con artist.
