Rubs and sauces FTWAll this talk about bugging out and walking long distances has me wanting to contact that guy in Haiti and get some recipes. There's plenty of plumb tender people near me.

FIFYI think a G19 would be a little easier to carry if he's going to do some walking. SHTF though is suck anywhere in the Northeast corridor.
Kriss Vector could work tooThis. Having multiple firearms that take the same mags is a major plus. The Sub2k can fold down and fit in a backpack. The g17, well it's a handgun, so there's that to consider. Stock up on Glock mags and you're all set. Throw a bunch in the backpack.
Or some Rooftop Koreans? How about a "Trunk Monkey"!
That's what I was going to suggest. Hi-Point carbine 9mm. Cheap, rugged, reliable and guaranteed for life. You don't have to worry about one of your "good" guns sitting in the trunk or under the panel where the spare tire in the SUV is kept. Take it out once a year for a function check.Where would he be keeping it? If in a truck, as a truck gun, I'd get a HiPoint 995TS since theft is a huge risk. If in the apartment, maybe a paratrooper SKS so he doesn't have to worry about a ton of mags. Looks unassuming, like a regular hunting rifle. If a landlord comes in to do repairs, it doesn't look too assaulty.
I bet most people are afraid of the woods at night. Thats when and where I would do my traveling and find the thickest briars to hole up in daytimeIf 50% of the combined population of DC/ Baltimore metro area is simultaneously trying to do the same thing , there won't be isolated woods to camp behind a camp tarp and dissappear. It will be elbow to elbow people everywhere.
Columbia?Or some Rooftop Koreans?

Two thoughts...
It would probably be a wise idea to make a few good, trusted friends along the way, where he could hole up for a night, or more if it seems to be a good idea to let the initial panic subside from whatever-it-was...
