Do you know a Maryland-Based, African American-founded organization or group of volunteers that has demonstrated commitment and dedication to Maryland through significant and direct volunteer service?

If so, please let me know and let's nominate them!

In celebration of Black History Month, nominations are currently being accepted by the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism for the inaugural Black History Month Community Leaders Awards.

This program recognizes Maryland-based, African American-founded organizations that provide volunteer service to improve Maryland communities for all.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at midnight. Learn more about eligibility and the selection process.

Why do we keep dividing people based on their skin color? Recognizing only a black person for an accomplishment is the same as saying “you got the highest score out of all the black people.” It’s ridiculous. People do good deeds with their heart not their skin. If their good deeds are only directed towards people of a certain color then they do not deserve recognition; they should in fact be ridiculed for that behavior.

Not only did he get arrested, he got released. Not only did he get arrested and released, he carried a loaded handgun illegally a second time too.
