Kenney’s new position has been vacant since November 2023, when the county’s former chief equity and inclusion officer, Michael Hughes, left his post.

Hughes became the county’s first chief equity and inclusion officer in November 2020 under former County Executive Jan Gardner.

In a phone interview on Tuesday, county spokesperson Vivian Laxton said she couldn’t comment on the circumstances of Hughes’ departure.

Laxton said on Tuesday that Kenney’s salary would be $120,000 in her new role.

In the old days, before journalism died, a public official saying they "couldn’t comment on the circumstances of Hughes’ departure." would be an invitation to a three part expose!

It really is amazing to see what government employees get paid. Have to wonder if the ROI is there. Actually, I am not really wondering. Only thing I am wondering is if this position is something you get "promoted" to in order to keep you quiet.

Hey, you feel like you've been treated unfairly, inequitably you say. Alright, how about we promote you to the position of Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer and pay you 120,000 taxpayer DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No wonder there is a bill in the MGA to allow the counties to increase their income tax percentage.

You know, I was in Frederick the other day, and while I was shoving endless quarters down the parking meter on Market street at about a quarter per 6 minutes, I thought to myself, "You know what Frederick needs? A new equity and inclusion officer." The crazy guy hooting and hollering seemed to agree.

To use a phrase I really hate, in the spirit of transparency, I'm a transplant to Frederick over 20 years ago.

I grew up un rural Harford County, got a job in DC, got married and started a family. Back then, Frederick County fit the bill for a good spot to raise kids.

Then, the weaker leftist libtards, who sought power and could not compete withe the more powerful established leftist libtards moved here and slowly began poisoning the environment. They coaxed their like minded associates to move here and then began running for offices. And here we are.

Both of our parents are nearing their 80's, so she doesnt want to leave, but if I could convince her, I'd be outta this State like the Baltimore Colts! In the middle of the night without so much as a KMA.

What a laugh. It should be called the Office of Bigotry, Racism, and Perceived
Victimization with Revenge as the Final Solution.
