I'm sure I'm not the only C&R junkie who likes to have authentic original bayos to match each rifle in my collection. Having just received my package with my original k98 blade (pics later after the maple syrup...err cosmoline is off) I thought this might spark some interest. Show your steel!

Not really a bayonet, but I thought it might fit here:

    Red Cross EM Hewer

The blade was wide with a saw tooth edge on one side that was used for removing plaster casts and preparing splints. The tip of the blade was squared off to conform to the Geneva Convention of medical staff not carrying offensive weapons.

I have some Pacific Theater war booty from my dad's uncle that served in the Marines amphib recon.

I don't have the rifles to go with the bayonets, but the bottom one is a Japanese bayonet and I don't know anything about it.

I have bayonets for my 91/30s but I'll be damned if I will pay $250 for an original m39 bayonet when the rifle only costs $230.

There were only 10,000 ever made, and a lot of those got melted for scrap...
Rare is rare and just like any collectible, people will pay. Also, $250 is WAY down in price from just two years ago (pre-recession). Prices were easily $350 and up.

Pic'd one up at the Maryland Arms collectors show last year. The dealer that had it wrote a book on Military bayonets. I saw him at the Chantilly show and he has another in stock, I think he was asking $275, more than I paid last year.

The pictured bayonet is a M35 second variation. This bayonet was interchangeable with the M27 rifle and carbine, M28 rifle, M28/30 rifle, and M39 rifle. Info taken from "Rifles of the White Death" by Doug Bowser.

Ok, cleaning done. Boiled this bayonet for a good while and after the cosmo was gone I have a 1939 Berg and Company Mauser bayonet (specifically went looking for one that matched or pre-dated my 1940 k98 rifle with the pre-war wood grips) with 100% original finish and all Nazi proofs intact (all pieces are stamped in multiple spots), though the serial numbers are mismatched. Any guesses on what a good price for this would be?
