Oh, I hear ya. But this might be a "win the battle, lose the war" scenario. Standing firm would give the opposition a significant advantage coming in to the election cycle. If we lose seats in the GA, that will be "even worse."

And a Rack pointed out, the fight ain't over, and might be better fought with judicial proceedings using the un-constitutional nature of the "takings."

How does it get worse? We lose every seat in the legislature? Then what will happen? California or Massachusetts style gun laws??? You really think next session when they propose a pistol grip ban or a detachable magazine ban that'll finally be when these republicans grow a back bone and draw a line in the sand????

You sir have more faith in these folks than I do.

That last line is so symbolic of how we got here. These Republicans vote away our rights, we throw a tissy in Annapolis, they shrugbtheir shoulders and say "it's just politics". Then we forgive them so we can what? Save a few bucks at the tolls? Save a few hundred dollars in taxes?? Exactly what are we getting out of giving these people a pass because "that's just politics"?

Jonathan....the politicians are taking into account the tens of thousands they represent that are not YOU...and they've decided their continued viability to fight for the greater electorate that wants them there to oppose the Libtards--when they have leverage-- is more important.

Well hopefully not too many of those tens of thousands are gun owners. They're continued support of politicians like that shows they don't deserve gun rights. I guess I overestimate the political pull of gun owners in this state when it comes to the GOP.

Maryland's interference with our 2A rights started dramatically in 1968 because the extended Kennedy clan (the Shrivers) were Marylanders when RFK was assassinated, so some of the infringement momentum is purely coincidental by cultural standards.

In mid-January, I was in the Virginia Statehouse in Richmond as legislative committees ignored shrill attacks on 2A there, and politely told the Libtards to pound sand. I was there to meet with my counterparts in the Virginia Citizen's Defense League (VCDL) who obviously share our interests.

A great moment, even as a guest of the Old Dominion.

Open-carrying your .357 inside a Statehouse and hanging with your conservative heroes is possible RIGHT NOW. Virginia never lost its values. Yes, it will be an uphill battle in MD, but we're not quitters.

We didn't "give" anything. The battle was lost before we started - and the game is rigged by the MDGA supermajority that nullifys the Governor's veto. I will bet you dollars to donuts that the incumbent Dems use this legislation as a platform for their re-election efforts (much as O'Malley tried to use FSA2013 as the foundation for his Presidential run.) We fought. The rational arguments fell on deaf ears.

Look beyond the immediate. This legislation wasn't introduced for "public safety." It was introduced to backstop the incumbent politicians in November.

    What you say is true.

That does not, IMO, justify the votes of the Republican turncoats.

After it gets passed to Reddit, Tumblr and Facebook, Hannity will do a story on it.

I waited a few days to make sure that I was still as mad now as I was upon first seeing news that the MD GOP took us over the counter and went in dry.

I told my elected critters (and the nominated one who sits in his daddy's seat) in District 8 exactly what I thought about them, their vote, and their (disgusting lack of) principles.

    Scum, all.

Honest, non-snarky question. VA never lost their values, ok. Did they ever lose their rights to the extent that we have? Has any state ever lost their rights to the extent we have and then successfully gained them back? I honestly lack the historical knowledge of many here and don't know. To me it seems we either take a radical shift in our approach to these politicians or pack up and move to greener pasture(like Virginia).

    The cesspool of MD
I question everything and rule nothing out, to refuse to believe that serious data mining dosent exist in every form of social media would be ridiculous, and google is the best at it and advancing. The question is how much did it effect... Its all fake till its real. Maybe its like smegiel said, maybe its a head fake, maybe its shadow gov pressure.... I mean md is the nucleus of this global corruption investigation thats unfolding....maybe they've got a new offshore account like the rest of them, maybe its a little of all of it.
One things for certain, until accountability comes and heads roll...it will continue.

Right next door. DC used to not even allow ownership of handguns. Along came a couple of fellows named Heller and Wrenn. Now DC is shall issue for carry. They have just been luckier than us here in Maryland with the courts.
