If you are going to get a Mosin-Nagant, let me suggest getting one to mod and one to restore. On YouTube, iraqveteran8888 has some great videos on the Mosin.

    Condolences.:lol2:

Haha, I think it's no coincidence that I've had trouble finding my wallet after I've put it down the past couple of days.

Congrats! And you've already been given good C&R acquisition advice by others.

My questions are "where do you plan to put your new gun safes" and "does Mrs. Fd3stt know this yet?"

    :innocent0

She's aware, but not really aware if you know what I mean. I think I explained it away as just an exercise of my rights and not the start of another expensive hobby.

My safe is woefully inadequate already. Haha. I'll have to upgrade very soon.

The consensus of MDShooters is that it will not take long at all. (And I very much resemble this remark!:D)

Welcome to poverty, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

So it seems. I've spent quite a bit of money recently trying to stay ahead of the election.

Forgot to add that I haven't narrowed down my first purchase yet. I was thinking SKS, but I honestly know very little about C&R firearms overall and I want to do a lot more lurking around here and reading before I make a purchase.

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far though. I've found this forum to be a wealth of good information and helpful people.

Yugo 48's are a buy now in my mind. I like the P64's and CZ82's a lot but they are not bargains now.

Maybe Trump will ease things up on Russia and we'll get some additional things from them.

Keep in mind the 50+ rule and carry your C&R with you when you travel. Never know when you may wonder into a small shop somewhere which has something you "need". Then, you can mail it back to yourself.

I think the P64's are still a bargain. Maybe not as good a bargain as they used to be, but still a bargain. Compare one to the PPK at 3 times the price.

I was subconsciously refering to " normal guns purchased by regular Americans" . But in the 50yrs plus era most of the mass market, regular Joe newly mdg guns were American made.

Imports were either milsurp, or High End exotica. ( The average Joe seeing a Browning and thinking Ogden, Utah not Lige Belgium , until production shifted to Japan.)

SOG has unissued Yugo SKS and i recommend the M48 Mauser. I got one last spring and they are wonderful shooters. The SKS is a very fun gun and ammo is relatively inexpensive.

It's been over a week now. Has your bank called you yet, expressing concerns? Has your wife threatened to leave? Are your kids looking a little malnourished?

If your answer to all of the above is "No", you aren't doing it right.
