    Texas!
    Guys and Gals,

I'm looking for a FFL in the Frederick area that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for the transfer of a handgun.

I may be sending a semi auto handgun up that way from Texas. This will be a gift for my brother that lives in the area.

    Any input would be appreciated.

I'd contact Shooters Discount in Mt. Airy.

I got my AR from them and very easy to deal with. Not sure what they'd charge on a FFL transfer though.

Last time I asked Lou at Shooter's Discount, he said he didn't do transfers. Too much B.S. to make it worth his time, or something along those lines.

That might be and I could even see that arguement honestly.

I'd still give him a call based off of my previous dealings with him. Seemed like a legit guy with good prices. Worst case he's just gonna say no thanks.

    Some options in Frederick,

    Glade Valley Sports http://www.gunsunlimited.com/

$50 for the transfer, + 10 MD charge, and add'l for APPROVED barrel lock

I've used them for a transfer, but it ain't near TX pricing...

Also, GunRunners, but I'm not sure what they charge...

Check with Bob @ Gunrunners in Frederick. I transferred my AR lower from Scottese through him. He's great to deal with. The transfer was $40 IIRC.

Gun Runners is the cheapest guy in town.
I have had many dealings with him and always pleased.

I've been using Lock, Stock & Barrel in Taneytown for my last few transfers. $40 for handgun and regulated firearms and I am not sure, but I think its a little less for non-regulated guns. Real nice people and they do NFA stuff too.

Ron at 3R, now in Hagerstown, only charged me around 25-30 for a handgun transfer (been awhile).

He now works out of his home, and is only open 2 times a week (last I checked). So not the most convenient, but he's a great person to do business with.

Steve Palmer in Williamsport does handgun transfers for $20 plus $10 for the MSP fee. His number is 301-223-1155. His business is called Appalachian Mountain Products, he is a gunsmith by trade.

Thanks for the help, guys and gals! I couldn't get in touch with the folks you recommended but I did get in touch with Keystone Sporting Goods and they only wanted $40 and I was cool with that.

    Thanks again! This place rocks!

+1 for Lock Stock and BArrel if you don't mind little bit of a drive
    +1 for Gun Runners too

If you want to be waited on by a bunch of used car salesman, try the Gun Ctr on Rosemont.

I went in the store for a 6 dollar scope mount and he tried to sell me an M1A

the only big thing with Bob at gunrunners is that he keeps weird hours. because he's also a surveyor he only works at nights and Saturday.
