I did a search to see if there were any opinion threads, but i didn't see any. so, whats the opinion of the Maadi RPM, i have the chance to pick one up for a good price, but i don't wanna waste money either. are they better than the wasr's, the same, worse, or as good as arsenals? thanks.

    Back in MD sadly
I'm assuming it has the long RPK style barrel correct? If you like long barrels then go for it but I personally am not a fan of them unless it is a genuine, full-auto RPK which us mere peons will never be allowed to own.

The Maadi overall is a decent gun. They are built to factory specs and built on Russian tooling. They are technically the closest rifle to a true Russian AKM one can get in this country.

I don't like the thumbhole stock, but like all AKs, check it out.
Not ALL Wasr 10's have canted sights, just probably the one you get...
Maadi is not Arsenal or Polytech or Norinco.

I'm not a fan of thumbhole stocks either, but I figure its something I can change. I would also like to have the slash cut brake, so that would be something else I may do later. I was just wondering how the maadi compared to other brands.

For what the rifle costs it may not be worth changing. If you don't like thumbhole stocks (I don't either), but you do like the slash cut muzzle brake, I'd suggest you go with a WASR. Just my .02.

It is commonly said though that the Maadi is a well built gun.

If you do decide on a WASR Clyde Armory had 'em last I checked.

Well, the usual for starters. Canted gas block and front sight, excessive mag slop. Those are the two most common issues, usually not too bad on newer ones though, say post-2008.

I would think any AK that cheap may have more issues than that.

How would I check the headspace? I don't have any gauges to check it at the guys gun shop. It's for sale at a gun shop, not private sale.

I just saw they have a Norinco Sporter in stock also, which would be better? the used Maadi, or the Norinco Sporter?
