Handwritten on a yellow sticky on the inside lid of 50 rd MTM box. Fired brass goes back in box in the same row it came from. This gets marked at the range if any shot not recorded on chrono, e.g. a row of 5 with one chrono missing would be marked with a "4."
The only brass that gets marked with a sharpie is the infrequent case that has something wrong with it, e.g. gets overtrimmed, overbumped, or the primer went in hard and needs a better swag or ream of crimped primer pocket. These might get used as fouling shots until the problem is corrected, depending on what it is.
