Where are you looking to hunt?

Anywhere in the state, I'm willing to travel. Just recently moved to Bowie, MD. From Arkansas

Prefer rifle and pistol hunting - not a bow hunter

Looking for meat first - horns second.

    Love to varmint hunt too.

You're really limiting yourself by rifle and pistol. In Md that means Western Md , and a few places on Eastern Shore. You'd open a lot more possabilities by using shotgun or muzzleloader.

I'm just across the patuxent river in davidsonville. If you want to get back in to bow, there's a few local public areas with great chances.

    ... or archery.

For archery, even the public lands (Montgomery and Howard county) offer decent chances. I have never hunted Ft Meade, I hear its decent too.

Many of the state parks open up to special bow hunts due to the over population of deer. Rifle and pistol (referred to as the same by Maryland) will limit your choices. Pick up an 870 with rifled barrel, a cheap Simmons shotgun scope and you're off to the races.

    Good Luck!

I think Elk Neck allows rifles and handguns. It's in Cecil, but it's public land. I understand you can hunt coyotes there too- and there are coyotes in there.

Heck I am still trying to find some good farms to trap on in Cecil and Harford...

Shotgun only. At least the last time I hunted that property.

If you don't have your lease by now, it's probably not worth having. All property worth having is long gone at this point.
