Is there actually a statute on attempted possession, or are they making this up as they go along?
What gun? There was NO gun involved, only allegations by an estranged wife during an emotionally charged divorce involving hunting rifles that were legally stored in Virginia. There was clearly ZERO intent to violate any DC law.
And just because 80% plus is Dem , doesn't mean the rest are GOP. The Statehood Party and the Greens are also a presence.

You are referring to a directive applying to registered gun owners.
The law was unclear if spent casing (which are ammunition in several places other than DC) in a vehicle of a registered gun owner, but not secured, should be treated as unsecured (a crime). There was a directive that even though this is a violation it should not be prosecuted.
That is totally different than a guy accused of threatening his wife with an illegal unregistered firearm, getting his home searched, and while the police did not find a firearm, they found evidence that may show one was there, as well as violations of ammunition laws that exist in DC and outside of DC as well.
This is a case of unfair prosecution, and bad gun laws, but it is in fact not surprising. And small otherwise minor infractions ARE persecuted outside of DC as well.
I was referring to a member here telling us that DC didn't enforce this crap. But thanks for explaining my post to me.
