Well, he used to be a cop. Story says he's 46 - hope he's got enough time on the job to retire.

Why do you hope he has enough time on the job to retire? He should be treated like the rest of us would be and do some jail time....

he probably will. but one bad act perhaps should not ruin an entire career. A lot of depts let people retire even after committing a criminal act. not condoning it but it happens. if you have the ime in, you keep what you have earned in many cases.

They let that DC Fire Lt. retire who took no action to save that guy who died on RI Av across from 26 Engine.

Really? This isn't one bad act. It's multiple retarded acts that would land a civilian that has never jaywalked into jail. This is excluding the higher standard he should be held to as a police officer.

Agreed, that temperament is not a good mix with being a policeman.

it doesn't change the fact that if he has 25 years of satisfactory service he can take his pension. if he does not have 25 years-oh well.

If he were to get fired he would not get a pension however that point is moot in this case........that should add some hazy clarity to his "retirement" eligibility

if he has the time he could certainly put in his papers before a court hearing or a trial board.

that's what the DCFD Fire Lt. did IIRC.

He was probably given the "option" to retire because he had enough years. I think the previous post is spelling it out. The point is moot in the officer's case. Think about it.

I think you should take a second look at my previous post and it would clear up any "time" related questions/comments you have

If during his career he displayed this type of temperament I highly doubt he had 25 years of satisfactory service. But if that's the case then I guess he deserves to get 40k+ annually to sit on his ass. Still doesn't change the fact that he deserves sit in a jail cell and reflect upon is shit judgement for a bit.
