Yep. The point was that the police made them aware that they knew about the permits and asked if they were carrying.
No. My point is that a cop could just ask that and not know and have someone answer to the affirmative because the driver has no clue if cops know or not.
Would you lie and say no if asked by a cop if he really didn't know?

Just like you never ask if someone has been drinking. You ask them how much they've had to drink.

So the cops lied to them by saying they knew about the permits and asked if they were carrying at the time?

Are you insinuating that our leaders are untrustworthy? :innocent0
    Worthy of disdain.
I really wish one of you guys would get pulled over, show your permit and see what they will do. We all want to know. Haha
I did, a couple of times and long before the Bruen decision. I carried OWB in winter, and take my jacket off when driving. If I had to step out of the car for any reason, it would be obvious. So when pulled over for speeding, I handed the nice officer my license, registration and permit.

    2 reactions:
    1. “I won’t show you mine if you don’t show me yours”
    2. “Why are you handing me your permit? I don’t care about your gun”.

    I got warnings both times.

ABout 20 years ago, when I still owned a handful of MG’s, we called police to our home after my son was threatened by a kid in his 5th grade class who had a gun.

TWO police cruisers showed up. One out front, another about 50 yards away.

I greeted the one officer at the door, invited him in and, noticing the other car asked if this was normal to have two cars show up (in MoCo) for a domestic call.

The officer told me the fact I owned MG’s showed up on his laptop and, whenever that came up TWO cars were dispatched.

That would explain a similar occurrence the year prior for a false alarm call from ADT (motion detector) and a later event.

Years later, having sold all my MG’s, I stopped by MSP Jessup Barracks for fingerprints for a can, and asked to speak with someone about my MG registry, make sure it was taken out of the system. The officer I spoke to upstairs said yes, no MG’s were in the system however, he DID say there were 39 guns on the registry and began reading off a list of pistol purchases from the previous 7-10 years (not counting C&R). THAT wasn’t a surprise at all, of COURSE the MSP makes a record of all 77R forms processed.

So it wouldn’t surprise me if MSP and local police CAN access the 77R database remotely.

If democrats CAN violate our rights, they will, and do.

That’s MY story and I’m sticking with it.
More likely you were entered in the CAD (dispatch system) premise database as a result of your CLEO notification for the NFA stuff.

I audited a W&C course this past weekend. The trainer, a FT law enforcement officer, put the question to the class "with no duty to inform, during a traffic stop should you?".

I said "no" for a couple of reasons. One, also as a former LEO, I believe in being polite and cooperative but never volunteer any extra and unnecessary information. Two, I don't know every officer out there and thus, don't know how they are going to react. The trainer said, that sure, you could get a 22 year old out of the academy who might be just a bit more jumpy and nervous with that info. Furtive or quick movements could cause a bad situation.

The trainer also said something that stuck with me. Over the course of his career (and he's had a long career), there are many more, as a percentage, cops that think citizens shouldn't be armed. Not everyone is your friend. Not everyone is going to start geeking out on your choice of finish or holster.

Don't lie but keep your damn mouth shut.

1st, a domestic always requires a minimum of 2 officers dispatched. Domestics and traffic stops are the leading causes of death or serious physical injury to cops.

2nd, I would put a little bit of money on the fact that someone informed the alarm company of the guns. It is not unusual at all for alarm companies to ask about pets and guns at houses, so that police can be notified so we don't release a K9 to search your house and so we know to specifically look for a gun safe in the event of an actual burglary.

    Thanks for the inside info.

Nobody from Simplisafe ever asked about guns. Or the other company we used to have.

Ah. Nowadays don’t all police agencies just listen in on our iPhones and Televisions?
