just for my information, what is 1k of 5.56 55gr going for locally? I'll be taking a carbine course on my own dime (to keep my skills up)

It sucks, if they sent me, it would all be free

And how much will it cost them to restock? How long will items be out of stock? A place as big as CTD had to move product to make money. If they can't replenish product, the stuff they have in stock has to be sold at larger margins.

If people buy it, they'll sell it.

Restocking is different and I understand a higher price on newly stocked items that increased in price. CTD I'm sure stocks more than all IPs combined. CTD is gouging its obvious. It is rare when I purchase online, I did Christmas on some ammo since I was getting JHP .380 for $12 a box and JHP 9mm for $13 a box. I will pay a little extra to a local store. I prefer to deal with someone face to face, ask questions and recieve an answer and opinion, touch the product. The onl thing I hate is giving MOM tax money, but hey. The only thing ive seen a GC at high prices were consignment guns. I have a solid relationship with GC and get treated very well, loyalty is a two way street.

What a great deal for 223 im ordering 2! I think Cheaper than dirt has lost my business by price gouging us the people...that keep them in business...i will go elsewhere and send them a message on what i think about it too...SMH

Just a technical note: the ammo linked is not actually .223--it's 5.56mm ammo, from a US manufacturer, which is always more expensive than .223 from a foreign manufacturer. That said, I wouldn't pay a buck a round for it.

This is noteworthy, when local IP's do it, it's simple supply and demand. Anyone who disagrees is a socialist and doesn't understand basic business and economics.

When CTD does it, they are no good sonsabitches and everyone's done with them.

I have been searching 223/5.56 ammo with reasonable prices. So far I only got two boxes of WPA(20rd) and many backorders. I think all my backorders will be cancelled anyway due to price increases.

Is it crappy what they are charging, yes. Is it gouging, in the literal sense I do not think so. One can debate that ammo is a necessity, if you have ammo than it is not a necessity. Price gouging is charging 3 times the going rate for a bottle of water after a disaster because you know people are going to need water.

Now in the market we are in for firearms fair market value is in the eye of the beholder. If I have widget A and similar widgets cost X, why the hell would I sell the widget for Y. I thought the purpose of selling something was to get as much of your cost back plus extra for a profit.

Yeah, I thought I'd save some money buying a number of items for Christmas from the same place. I think I bought like 6 items and each one came from a different warehouse. Shipping cost was rediculous.

Funny, my paper catalog, January 2013, cat # 601 lists it as $599.99, and I thought that was high compared to when it was $349.99. I think they've lost our business after my Christmas/November order bullshi+.

Not CTD but I just came from a gun shop in Roanoke Va. No ar's and some 30 rd ar mags in the back of unknown manufacture and yet to be priced. 223 at 9.99 per 20 with 4 box limit. 7.62x39 wolf @8.99 per 20. 4bx limit. Walmart store manager went home with the keys to ammo locks, limited stock anyway. wth ! Lots of glock etc mags at the gun shop.

    Tapatalk is crashing crap
