Countersinking my Rem 58 cylinder center hole

    Sometimes the cylinder is hard to re-insert.
    Here is a pick of my conversion cylinder.
    I'm thinking of taking a countersink bit or a reamer and reaming/countersinking the center hole so that when I insert the cylinder, the pin self aligns a bit better when its off a tad.
    I can't think of any reason NOT to do this other than the work to ream and blue the cut portions.

    Won't hurt a thing.

    You could taper the end of the cylinder pin too.

    A long 30 degree taper would be better than 45 degrees.

    Or a combination of the two on the cylinder hole.


    PS: Are all of those holes the same size.

    The Pietta cylinder is already beveled.
    Its this Howell conversion cylinder that was not.
    I beveled it last night and easier to insert now.
    The Pin is rounded at the tip, but comes pretty sharp at the edges.
