This is one of the more ridiculous unintended consequences of this bill. By definition steel or tungsten shot are now considered 'Cop Killer Bullets' under the new bill. Federal law states that only non-lead shot can be used for hunting waterfowl.

Put the two things together and and we have the new slogan for waterfowl hunting tourism in Maryland: "Enjoy the Chesapeake Bay's storied waterfowling traditions. Only Cop Killer Bullets are allowed."

Relax, read the bill again. They are only classified as cop killer bullets if you use them in the commission of a crime. Meaning if you take you 870, filled with heavy shot and rob a bank, then you can be charged with an additional crime.

I think Frosh's comment was that if you didn't commit one of the types of crimes specified with them that there would be no issue.

I agree not excluding them is not optimal.

Hey, if the other side can use rhetoric and propaganda, so shall we!

This point needs to be pounded until it hits home.

Travel by air w/ steel shot in the pocket of your favorite hunting coat as you are on your way to the Pacific Northwest to hunt? Is this a crime? (I don't know if it is, but I'd assume that trying to clear security at BWI w/ loaded ammo is). Boom, you've just upped the ante.

Curious how far down the rabbit hole we can go as I'm a waterfowler in the winters. What crimes are considered "Crimes" for this particular aspect of the bill? Any misdemeanor and felony? Felony only? Moving violations?

What if you wear an orange cap with a logo on it, so it is not "A cap of solid fluorescent orange color"?

If you shoot a duck a minute after dusk or a minute before dawn you have committed a crime. Give them an inch.....

So shooting out of season, having the ammunition while speeding and anything else silly you can think of, you would be safe with the ammunition in question.
