It's definitely a hit or miss, but still a beautiful collectible regardless.

IDK, I think that the blued ones are more forgiving. They hide the carbon and scratches better.
I think its harder to hide blemishes and poor cleaning habits on a nickel or stainless one myself. The carbon stands out.

But stainless can be polished more aggressively to remove carbon and light scratches in a way that would damage the finish of a blued or nickel plated Python. See it all the time on a GB, and it doesn't diminish the revolver's value. Re-bluing, on the other hand, is a big no no among collectors.
As long as the revolver's timing is fine, lock up is tight, and forcing cone doesn't look cut, the other factors that affect Python value (beyond condition, production year, and barrel length) are whether the grips are original, and to a lesser extent, whether the original box is included in the sale.

My buddy can’t believe what they’re getting for Pythons. He’s like but they were $129.00 back in the day. Hindsight’s 20/20. He would’ve bought every one he could find had he known.
