A guy has a Low mileage mint condition Colt Rail gun used for $850, I know Colts demand a premium price, but what some of you guys think? I might have to loose a Glock 23 or 590a1 plus cash. Anyone have any time shooting or owning this specific models?

    Welcome to the fourm.
I am not to know to much about the "new" colts ,I have heard mixed reviews about them. You should check out 1911 fourm in the colt section. I know a friend that wants 1K for a series 70 gold cup it is mint. So really $850 for a used pistol give up 1K and you should have your pick of VERY a nice used 1911s.

The Colt Rail gun is basically their XSE model with the addition of a railed frame. The Colts are good guns for the money, but like any sub $1500 1911, there might be a few tweaks needed to get the gun where you want it. The major makers of 1911s either can't or won't pay for the hand fitting and quality control that is needed to ensure proper function out of the box.

One of the things Colt could do a better job on is fitting their firing pin stops. They often come too loose from the factory and let the extractor move around too much. Fitting an EGW firing pin stop, and a quick check of the extractor tension is a good idea on any production 1911, not just on the Colts.

Sounds like the asking price is reasonable if the gun is low mileage and in near new condition.

    Buy it.
I've had mine for most of a year now, and it's simply an amazing weapon. It's well-balanced, easy to shoot, looks spectacular, and if we could get the leaders of the Maryland Socialist Party to see our way, I'd wear it on my hip.

I've had ZERO failures with this weapon, and I've probably gone through a couple of thousand rounds with it so far. I'd intended to buy it, put 50-100 rounds through it, and keep it as a safe queen, but instead, it goes to the range every time I go, and is just a LOT of fun.

My kid loves to shoot it, and my fiancee does near-perfect headshots with it. And it will hit the X on the target whenever you let it.
