Since my deal for the Model 29 .44 magnum fell through, the guy was kind enough to offer another gun in trade....I found I was more interested in this one than the Model 29

Introducing my 1998 Colt Combat Commander 1911 .45 ACP.

She is a two tone with some added features.


Ahrend grips
Novak Competition rear sight
Novak Fiber Optic front sight
S/A Grip Safety
Ed Brown thumb safety
Extended mag release.

Two Magazines- one a 7 round, the other an eight round.

S&W Model 27. I thought it was a keeper.....got bored with it. Wanted something a little different. It was supposed to be a trade for a Model 29, but that didn't work out.

I have a Colt Commander that I absolutely love, it's a tack driver.

I am hoping to get some work done to it when I get home, may not have the time or money though so most likely I will hold off till next time.

Only issue- out of two mags, only one works....one is a dog. Pulled off the aftermarket base plate...it's a Kimber mag. Did a google search. Well, well, well.....Kimber mags SUCK apparently.

The gentlemen is an older guy with more guns than he knows what to do with. He's a retired cop who does nothing these days but work a part time job and trade guns for sh*ts and giggles. He traded the 29 for a 586. Asked me if I wanted the 586 first....I told him I didn't want to get out of a .357 just to get another .357. He offered the Colt at that time.

He wheels and deals on a site here in NC that I am a moderator on.
