There has been an exceptional Colt Model 1917 listed online for quite awhile that I thought was way overpriced.

It has been listed and re-listed over and over for months without a price reduction.

Last night I went fishing and made the guy an offer more inline with what I thought was reality.

I was kind of shocked to get up this morning and find out he had accepted my offer.

It should be at my FFL later this week.

Excellent Condition - This thing must have spent both wars in storage.
All numbers matching, including both walnut grips.
    Pristine bore.
Crystal clear roll marks, Pony and LT. Co. John M Gilbert cartouche
Comes with a 1942 Textan holster with Ordnance Dept Flaming Bomb stamp

Thanks guys - been awhile since I have been this excited about a "new" gun.

I do plan to shoot it - maybe not a lot but at least to see what it's all about.

Funny, you mentioned the movie Fury ..... that is what started me looking for one.

Not long ago I was re-watching The Pacific miniseries and noticed Pfc Eugene Sledge was using one later in the series.

That is great! My father carried "a pump shotgun and a .45 revolver" when he was guarding German POWs during the War. He didn't remember if it was a Colt or a Smith and Wesson.

"Well dad, did the cylinder turn clockwise or counterclockwise?"

Prettiest 100+ yr old revolver I've ever seen. Breath-taking.

The gun came in Thursday and it’s even better in person than in the pics but of course I can’t bring it home until next Thursday.

In the meantime, I did find a nice repo ammo pouch from World War Supply and some half-moon clips from a place in Michigan.

Nice that it looks better in person! I think it's often hard to get good photos that don't accentuate blemishes etc.
