It’s cool to finally have a 4.6 option on the market, but it’s definitely not going to scratch the MP7 itch. I really wish H&K would come out with a semi auto version so people who don’t have access to the select fire version get to experience the awesomeness. Not normally that into full auto unless I am on a long range running a belt fed, but the MP7 is an exception. Super fun to plink steel on full auto.

Why not go for something in 5.7x28mm? Ammo is much easier to find. AR57 with 6" barrel with suppressor inside the hand guard. Uses 50 round PS90 mags.

Find me one for less then my first born and I'll be sure to get it.

Kinda this. They are pricey, IIRC. Haven’t looked in a while. I’m too busy spending money on PCC recoil systems.

AR57s are out of production, and with the resurgence of demand, they're going for big boy money. It wouldn't shock me if someone bought up the rights and restarted manufacture in a year or two, though.

Sorry, I just don't understand why I would want this. I have not shot the MP7, I grant. I have shot rsideout's 5.7 in FA. Its nice but I would much rather shoot 2x-3x more in 9mm for the same money. I am assuming this is going to be a fast little round, making it not very good to suppress. Why do I want this, honest question?

Didn't the AR57 have QC issues like the their upper were "out of spec" that you couldn't get takedown pins in place or if you did you needed a hammer and punch to get them out.

You definitely want to shoot an MP7, but it’s because it was holistically designed with the cartridge and a joy to shoot. It suppresses about like something in 5.7 if you’ve done that.

In other words, you want to shoot an MP7 because it’s an MP7 and a great gun, not because it shoots 4.6. As far as why you would want an AR in 4.6, no idea. Novelty? Paying 10x more than necessary to blow up ground hogs?

I've got 2 of them, and the QC is fine. One with a 6" barrel and the other with a 12" barrel. They both function 100% in semi or full auto, and suppressed.

I certainly will try a MP7 if I ever get the change, no doubt. However frankly it does not look super exciting, at least not enough to live up to the hype. It could be a great combo of good features but it does not seem to be revolutionary as its made out to be. Maybe I am wrong. It is a bit ironic to see you more excited than I am about a MG! ;)

I don't see the big deal on may of these new calibers. I get some people love maximizing cartridges. However most of the time all I see is a slightly interesting cartridge at 3x the price tag! About the only newer cartridge that I find interesting is the 300BLK and I have still not bought into that. Anything being produced today without thought of suppression... seems like a waste to me.

I’m not sure if why I like it can be accurately conveyed without the context in which it is useful. If you get a chance to do any training in and around vehicles, the MP7 really shines. Even with a suppressor on. In terms of form factor, it’s not that different from an Uzi or Mac 11 in .380 except mostly made of plastic. Recoil and blowback in your face are very different.

My guess is that my enthusiasm probably won’t translate very well and you’ll be disappointed haha. Especially if you’re paying for the ammo.
