Can't say with personal expirence but one guy I talked too said he was having extraction issues. This was a while back so not sure if he ever got it squared away. As for the gas in the face, I have a .30 cal M1 and don't have issues with gas into my face. Idk if it would be that much being a .22 but never know.

    1) The stock is metric, a M1 Carbine replacement stock from CMP will work.
    2) Can not use a traditional oiler and sling with the metric stock. The cut slot is not wide enough to accomodate the oiler.
    3) The barrel band and bayonet lug are plastic, but can be replaced with an authentic metal barrel band.
    4) Can not affix a bayonet to the plastic bayonet lug.
    5) The front and rear sights are plastic.
    6) The barrel is not long enough to affix a bayonet too.
