Question came up today as I was running around doing errands. Walked past the new Silver Spring library and was hesitant to look inside as I wasn't sure if it was considered state public buildings and prohibited in COMAR 04.05.01.03

Technically it's Montgomery county property and was wondering what people think about that?

    Why would you ask?

from time to time i need to go by the library when going home from work and i noticed the library isn't on my iPhone application GUN FREE ZONES. FYI labcorp is also a GUN FREE ZONE, not indicated on my application.

I just wanted to know the policy since it is a county owned/tax payer facility. The website doesn't indicate GUN FREE ZONE. And as far as CC that's my business, however, if a situation should occur while in the library such as a deranged individual wanting to commit a catastrophe, I should want to know what the policy is at such a facility.

So, if the deranged individual who is intent on causing a catastrophe shows up, would you refrain from protecting yourself simply because the establishment has a no guns Policy?

there in lies the conundrum. remember the psychologist in PA a few years back who took down an active shooter in the hospital where he worked? the hospital had a GUN FREE policy, yet he saved numerous lives, and yes he did have a CC permit. and i would have to say if the person is intent on cause mass killing, it is a good chance i would have to do what i would have to do and HOPE my MDSHOOTERS community would come to my aid and help with the legal expenses. :smoke:

There's no conundrum at all here. The psychologist was an employee of a business with a no gun policy. He had the option of working elsewhere but instead chose to violate his employer's policy. In the end he was not terminated as I recall. To ask an establishment about their policy is to say "I'm carrying a gun, can I come in?" Stay concealed, keep quiet about it, and only honor GFZS that are written into law.
