Q7: In the long run and with few exceptions (i.e. police officers, military use) handguns should be eliminated from our society.

    Agree - 3.5%
    Disagree - 93.1%
    Not sure - 3.4%

    * This question is a direct quotation from footnote 36 in the U.S. bishops’ 2000 document “Responsibility, Rehabilitation, and Restoration: A Catholic Perspective on Crime and Criminal Justice.” But it’s not just a footnote. In their 1990 document “New Slavery, New Freedom: A Pastoral Message on Substance Abuse,” the U.S. Bishops said: “Furthermore, the widespread use of handguns and automatic weapons in connection with drug commerce reinforces our repeated ‘call for effective and courageous action to control handguns, leading to their eventual elimination from our society.’”

Looks like the USCCB is off in left field once again. They have a terrible batting average in areas like this, IMO.

    Informed Catholics know that when
our church delves into the political
realm, we are not obligated to follow.
    For example, when Pope Francis
seemed to come out against the
wall, favoring instead a bridge, that
was his personal opinion. It was not
a dictum. And, if I, as an obedient
Catholic, choose to say The Holy
Father is all wet in his opinion, that
is perfectly fine. The USCCB is even
more wet on that one. We can all understand their underlying concerns,
but are absolutely not obligated to
    go along.

    Catholic Gun Poles

Poles are like holes and opinions ...everyone has one. This reminds me I need to get my guns blessed. Don't let the lefties fool you self defense is in Catholic teaching . They just don't teach it anymore. Especially not now with a commie Pope.
