Yes... It is a blend of 60% Alox and 40% Johnson's Liquid Wax. I add a little to a plastic container with the cast boolits and swirl it around to coat them all and then stand them up on a sheet of wax paper and let them dry overnight (or at least a few hours). The lube will dry all the way, only takes a very little and it works great for me!

You can heat the Alox in hot water to thin it out a bit to mix it up, makes it easier to pour in, then I just put the blend in a squirt bottle to dispense into the container with boolits.

Thanks, I've been heating my alox since I started using it, but I'm definately interested in one that drys to non tacky/sticky.

To answer the original post, I have yet to get into casting bullets, but my Dad, who I considered to be pretty well versed in it (He'd been rolling his own and casting bullets since the mid 1950s) never emptied the pot. He cast bullets over a propane stove with a cast iron cauldron, and he'd just turn off the burner. I don't see that any harm would come from leaving the lead in the pot on that kind of set up. Maybe an electric one, but certainly not a cast iron pot.

I have always left my bottom pour Lee pot full when I'm done casting. I always use the same alloy, which is wheel weights that were already broken down in a larger cast iron melt pot.
