Please clarify if it is still legal to have a loaded firearm in your vehicle after 10/1/23 if you have a W&C for MD. The law seems to say you can carry a loaded gun in your car after 10/1/23 (Start of SB1) if you have a Md W&C, but I have seen in other forums where some people think it will be illegal.

There appears to also be new language of how to secure the gun in the car too.

Before exploding this thread into a clone of the many others that broadly address the topic, let's first establish if you're talking about a long gun or a handgun. Guessing that since you mentioned your Wear & Carry permit, you're thinking handguns. But please be more specific, in hopes of this thread not straying into some otherwise very well-trod territory.

Only slightly joking , after 10/1 ( without Restraining Order ) , in your car is the main place you will be able to carry .

Simplified - The new language about *How* to store in car , is for W&C holders who park in someplace otherwise an SB-1 Sensitive Area . Does not apply for " Normal" transport , which is unchanged .

Yes and thanks for the clarity. I mean a handgun and it does appear the language in SB1 does not restrict carrying a loaded gun in the car with your W&C just going into establishments without expressed consent is illegal.

I am am curious about this as well. I'm thinking I can't stop and get gas while my carry weapon is in my truck, but can I legally drive past a gas station. Referring to the "with-in 100 yds" part of it.

There is no "within 100 yards part of it". See Smokey's links above.

What if I'm driving by a restaurant that sells alcohol to school children?

Do I need to give myself permission to drive in my car? What if the bank still owns it, do I have to get permission from them?
