No matter the intent, this should be defeated. Even if amended, some retailers will no doubt think maryland banned magazine possession and stop selling them to Marylanders.

This is a retarded bill. Felons already cannot own guns or ammo. More laws are not the solution when prosecutors and judges are not keeping people behind bars in the first place.

That's the real consequence. As of now it's already very hard to find online dealers willing to ship magazines to an our of state address.

Do guys reqlly think Governor Hogan would sign this bogus bill if passed?

Do guys really think guys will get off their couches and vote for Governor Hogan a second time if Governor Hogan would sign this bogus bill if passed?

The answer is.....we don't matter in a lopsided 67/33 state.

It would be foolish to punish Hogan when Trump, Gowdy, Cornyn, Rubio, and others have signed on to banning bump stocks.

Being an election year, all bets are off. All politicians will do what's best in their interest to be re-elected.

I would hope he would never sign any anti 2A legislation, but who knows?

I don't care what others are doing that I cant vote for, I care about what the ones I can vote for or against, even if my vote doesn't matter.

Hogan ever signs something like this that is very dear to me, I damn sure wont ever vote for him again.

On my way out of the Judiciary Committee chamber, I held the door open because I saw someone in my peripheral. Turns out it was Senator Brochin. He could have kept walking, but instead struck up a conversation ... said he liked my testimony. We chatted for a short while out in the rotonda area.

I very much enjoyed watching Jen Pauliukliukliukonis get pounced on by multiple Senators with her big pile o' statistics. They weren't buying what she was shovelling.

Most of the mdpgv ladies bailed by about 6pm. The 2A folks, however, were there until the end. It was good to stand and testify with y'all.
I thank you and everyone else who was there. That was great to watch. I wish I could have been there.

As others have said, thank you and everyone else that went to defend our rights.

Is there a recorded version of this available somewhere to watch?

Yep. Seven hours of "did they actually say that?"

    http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmcommittees.aspx?pid=av&tab=subject7

Video is in the Senate Judiciary section. Choose the 2018 session, then Feb. 22 in the "on demand" pull-down list. Click the arrow at the right of that row to play.

Here's a direct link if you don't want to fuss with the full catalog page. (Can't embed the video - they're using a streaming service that segments the video into a crapload of little files and your browser stitches them together.)

Am I the only one doing this tonight????

I just emailed my senators. You can go to mgaleg.maryland.gov and go to the bottom left corner of the page where it says voice your opinion. You will be able to email all of your senators from there. I also explained that many firearms owners in Maryland are considered as Designated Collectors by Maryland State Police and there is no exclusion in the bill for collectors. I called my senator and voiced my opposition to the bill and stated my concern also About there not being an exclusion for designate collectors. The person I spoke with said no one had mentioned to her the issue about designated collectors it sounded like it was the first time she had even heard that argument.

What would be the purpose of a trick? D's have veto-proof majority in both MGA houses. No need for tricks, as long as M&M support a bill.

Not in the last year of an election term, if the Legislature does pass it, as is, and the Governor vetoes it, per the Maryland State Constitution, it cannot be overridden.

Better yet, permanently disband the Md GA.

Best idea...outlaw the Democratic party, jail the leaders, and do what we should have done after the Civil War...(no offense to the southern patriots that fought for true states rights, their brothers, sisters, neighbors, and other facts, not just slavery).

One highlight that bears watching if you don't want to slog through the whole thing - Senator Joan Conway's presentation of SB 789. She starts at 5:40:00.
5:41:50 - "We need to get rid of those guns. We need to get rid of those multiply ... watchacall those things ... automatic ... how you shoot so many times. We need to get rid of all that."
5:49:30 - "We are looking at amending the bill to say if you are a convicted felon and you have been in possession of that particular ... bump stock or 10 rounds or more."
5:50:20 - "We are not for over-incarceration, because the people who are incarcerated look like me. So we're not trying to incarcerate anybody, but let me tell you - it's limited numbers of people and they are repeat offenders ... and many of them look like me ... but those individuals who have those crimes, those felonies, and those high ... uh ... caliber magazines ... the bill will be amended to say it impacts them. Okay? All right."

If there was an isolated incident - mis-speaking "caliber" for "capacity" - I could look past it. However, watching her testimony ... I don't think she has a clue about what she's talking about.

Is it me or have I not seen any Maryland Shall Issue on these?

There was an email that went out, and you can find info on the website: https://www.marylandshallissue.org/jmain/legislation-tracker/144-mga2018-legislative-update

    also on the calendar: https://www.marylandshallissue.org/jmain/events/month.calendar/2018/02/23/-

If you click on the link for a particular day, it will tell you the bills, the position, and a link to the mga website where you can find the bill.

Yes, that was quite often and transparent. Is it some caveat that no matter which way he votes it is an excuse to hold him blameless?

The ladies wouldn't care. One lady so animated and against passing the right to buy a rifle in Ohio, under Maryland rule of law.. it's just pointless to even try talking sense to these types.

I'm more concerned if your testimony fell on deaf ears where it counts. The Magazine sponsors seemed to back track, but none of this is over till the fat lady sings.

Yeah that lady was becoming unhinged.

When I called his office yesterday, I explicitly told them, I remember he voted for cloture 5 years ago...I hadn't forgotten, and this was me holding their feet to the fire.

Seems I'm not the only person to have reminded them this session.
