I want to know where all these "90 percent in favor of gun control legislation"
and claims that most Americans want "assault weapons" banned from "deranged sociopaths and regular civilians". I want them to release where they took the polls, how and to which kinds of people. I think they post a poll on the most liberal media site and tell their liberal viewers to decide, obviously they choose in favor of "common sense legislation". America is turning into a Communist prison. The two party system is failing and every politician is giving into pressure from big shots with lots of cash, there is no choice whoever you vote for either is against your rights or will never get into office because their not part of the two party system. I'm just disgusted with the role the media played in all of this chaos and madness. America is socialist and no matter where you go you'll always be labeled insane for interpreting the constitution the way the forefathers wanted it to be read. Sorry for getting off topic but just wanted to see if anyone knew where these polls are coming from because I sure as hell don't support universal background checks and I don't know anyone who does around here besides the communist down the street.

***The 90% figure is probably just push polling that is basically crap. As for majorities supporting universal background checks - come on over to MoCo and you will find a pretty high majority of people supporting this along with an outright ban on "Assault Weapons", and guns in general. People in my neighborhood, and people I work with in MoCo are very liberal and very anti-gun for the most part, with very few exceptions. The population density of MoCo,HoCo, PG, and Baltimore is high compared to more conservative parts of the state and it is they that get all of these crazy laws passed and elect anti gun folks into power.

Accurate. Montgomery alone has just about as many residents (1,004,709) as the Western counties (Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick and Carroll) and the Eastern Shore (Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's, Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester) combined (1,112,122). It's also 57% registered Democrats.

Prince Georges? 881,138 residents, and 78% registered Democrats.

Baltimore City? 621,342 residents and 78% registered Democrats.

The edges of the state are just grossly outnumbered

It is a fact that a large majority of Americans, roughly 85%, do actually support universal background checks. Basically every single poll has shown this.

Luckily for us, a good portion of Americans do not vote. Congress knows that gun rights activists are single issue voters and they know that there are a lot of us that will be showing up to the polls. That is why the assault weapon ban failed 40-60. This doesn’t mean we are out of the woods though, gun legislation could easily pass and we are very much at risk of losing the 5-4 majority in the Supreme Court if a Republican president is not elected in 2016.
