    Well,

Had to spend at least a little time on the range today to check out the Norfolk PD LEO Trade-in G-17 I picked up from Lou & Shooters Discount.

The pistol performed flawlessly. A very nice shooter. More accurate then I expected although my point of reference was a Ruger Single Six :innocent0 . I am very pleased. The gun was delivered in the usual Glock plastic case along with documentation and cleaning rod.

The single mag shows obvious signs of use. I really don't see any holster wear. I field stripped the pistol and noticed the barrel looked absolutely pristine, inside and out.

Curious if this might have been a replacement barrel. I guess I'll never know for sure.

Happy camper here. Two thumbs up for the deal. :party29:

    Thanks Lou.

There are usually a few guns in LE trades what the department had stowed away as "extras" or "spares".

You might have found one of them if there is little to no wear.

Yeah... Lou sold me a Glock 22 a while back that had SPARE written on masking tape stuck to the case. I'm pretty sure it was NIB.

Don't LEO trade ins get refinished?

    No.

The departments are done with them and aren't going to spend money to fix them up for minimal returns. The companies that buy them to resell them aren't going to fix them.

Unless Sig or a large company brokers the deal they just get bought and flipped. Sig might send some out to be CPO's but 99% just get resold.

Many departments change guns every 2-5 years or whenever the next best thing comes out...some hold on to the same gun for 12-15 years. Some guns sit in a desk all day while some see much more "action". Nature of the beast some stay in good shape others get beat up.

My LE trade had a lot of holster wear but virtually no mechanical wear and who ever carried it didn't believe in keeping it clean - all kinds of fuzz (npi) in the action block. Clearly it was carried a lot, but not shot much

A good cleaning and cerakoat job will make this a looker and a shooter
