A friend of mine came up on a black bear in the Kentlands this morning. Another reported bear scat on the Muddy Branch Trail so be cognizant if you're mountain biking, hiking, or trail running in that AO.

Heard there was another sighting up in Germantown yesterday too. I know there have been a few spotted at BCC IWLA but don't know if they have any current pix or sightings.

A bear in Montgomery county? Be prepared for the "Person pets bear, bear bites off person's hand" story on the news.

Any word if Montgomery county SWAT has been mobilized yet?

Easy solution, they would then be considered assault bears and can be banned. Mama bears would be considered "High Capacity" Bears so they will be banned as well.

S&W 500 Mag might be overkill. An S&W 460 Mag would probably be adequate. I used a pocket knife for protection on the Appalachian Trail years ago. If a bear entered my tent, I could cut a hole in the back to escape. I also carried a .357 as a last resort.
