I had some 7.62x39 in my shopping cart at a reasonable price last night and walked away before completing the transaction... went back to complete this morning and there wasn't a round to be had.
Yeah...it's not like they have anything else on their plate at the moment. International crisis...thousands of Americans trapped in Afghanistan and can't get out and becoming potential hostages of the Taliban? Yeah...sounds like gun control at home is necessary to address the situation.
Yup, just did some quick poking around. It went from 33-35cpr for a lot of guys in a case quantities and now it’s all gone. Nothing less than 50cpr and most is way higher if anyone has it.
I guess I am now really glad I only have my SKS. I’d be super pissed if I owned other stuff in it. I’ve got at least a case of steel for it. Probably more like 1300-1500 rounds. Another 300-400 rounds of brass cases stuff. Just grabbed 100 primed cases, new, and 500 primed pulls that are questionable. But looks like it should be able to reuse about 400-450 of the cases. Sadly all I have is 250 bullets I can load up. I bet .311 bullets are going to go from very hard to find right now to unobtanium. But at least that’s likely not going to be a problem for a long time. And easier for domestic manufacturers to ramp up bullet manufacture with demand than it is anything else.
I guess we might find out in a couple of years what the real demand and pricing is for domestic 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 brass cased non-hunting ammo is.
Or if the state department ban doesn’t extend to components, watch all the guys tool up lines to load steel cases and import all of those in shipping containers worth.
Just my 2 cents but we holler about commies and how bad they are to our society and way of life. Now people are pissed because we cannot buy their ammo any more? WTF, we should not by their crap any way which also helps their economy. Sounds hypocritical to me.

You and I have very different definitions of “slightly more.” I’ve only been enjoying 7.62x39 firearms since the beginning of 2017 when I purchased a Vz58. In my admittedly limited time of 4.5 years with the cartridge, I don’t recall seeing American x39 for much less than double. I recall about a 3-5 day period in 2018 or 2019 when GECO brass cased and boxer primed 7.62x39 (not American but theoretically not Russian ammo) was 35-37 cpr at TargetSportsUSA, which was pretty good. Russian steel cased was about 20-25 CPR, which made it painful but doable to not buy Russian ammo. The math completely goes out the window for 5.45x39 ammo, as it’s just not made in quantity here in the states. The only non Russian ammo I have been able to find in 5.45 was hornady steel cased, but they used Russian cases. and Ukrainian 5.45 which was just modified tracer rounds that had mediocre accuracy.Agreed. People are happy to put on a big show about it but as soon as they have to endure even the tiniest minor inconvenience (paying slightly more for American made ammo), they show that they have no true conviction. Imagine if these hypocrites actually had to deal with any real hardship. Laughable!!

The reality is that over the past few decades, the commies are becoming capitalists and the capitalists are becoming commies.........
